What is  the Maintenance of Transformers ?

Maintenance of transformers is essential to ensure their safe, stable and efficient operation, and the following are some common maintenance measures:

Periodic inspection

Appearance check: Check whether the transformer shell is damaged, deformed, and leaking oil.

Oil temperature check: Use an oil temperature gauge to measure the oil temperature and ensure that it is within the normal range.

Oil level check: Observe the oil level in the oil pillow. If the oil level is too low, the transformer oil should be added in time.

Sound check: Listen to the sound of the transformer when it is running. Normally, it should be a uniform humming sound. Abnormal sound may indicate a fault.

Cleaning and ventilation

Regularly clean the dust and dirt on the transformer shell and radiator to ensure good heat dissipation and ventilation.

Electrical test

The insulation resistance test is carried out regularly to check the insulation performance of the winding.Measure the DC resistance of the winding to determine whether there is a short circuit or open circuit in the winding.

Tap-changer maintenance

Check whether the tap changer is in good contact and operates flexibly.

Perform switching test and check on the tap-changer according to the specified period.

Gas relay inspection

Periodically check the gas relay for gas buildup.Test the operational reliability of the gas relay.

Dehumidifier maintenance

Check whether the moisture absorbent (usually silica gel) in the moisture absorbent is discolored, and if it is discolored, it should be replaced in time.

Cooling system maintenance

For air-cooled transformers, check whether the fan is operating normally and whether there is abnormal noise. For water-cooled transformers, check whether the water flow, pressure and temperature are normal.

Fastening part

Check whether the connection bolts and leads of the transformer are tight to prevent loosening.

Oil quality detection

Transformer oil is regularly extracted for testing to detect the breakdown voltage, acid value, water content and other indicators of the oil. If there is deterioration, it should be treated or replaced in time.

Recording and analysis

Establish maintenance records to record the contents, discovered problems, and solutions of each maintenance in detail.Operational data and maintenance records are analyzed to identify potential problems in advance and take preventive action.

Follow operating procedures

Before maintenance, ensure that the transformer is powered off and take reliable grounding measures by strictly following the relevant operation rules and safety regulations.

Emergency treatment plan

Develop emergency plans for possible transformer failures and emergencies to ensure that emergency situations can be handled quickly and effectively.

What is Voltage Stability in Power Systems?
What is Voltage Stability in Power Systems?
Definition of Voltage StabilityVoltage stability in a power system is defined as the ability to maintain acceptable voltages at all buses under both normal operating conditions and after being subjected to a disturbance. In normal operation, the system’s voltages remain stable; however, when a fault or disturbance occurs, voltage instability may arise, leading to a progressive and uncontrollable voltage decline. Voltage stability is sometimes referred to as "load stability."Voltage instability c

What is Dual Trace Oscilloscope?
What is Dual Trace Oscilloscope?DefinitionA dual-trace oscilloscope uses a single electron beam to generate two separate traces, each deflected by an independent input source. To produce these two traces, it primarily employs two operating modes—alternate mode and chopped mode—controlled by a switch.Purpose of a Dual-Trace OscilloscopeWhen analyzing or studying multiple electronic circuits, comparing their voltage characteristics is often critical. While one could use multiple oscilloscopes for

What is Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO)?DefinitionA cathode ray oscilloscope (CRO) is an electrical instrument for measuring, analyzing and visualizing waveforms and other electronic/electrical phenomena. As a high - speed X - Y plotter, it shows an input signal against another signal or time. Capable of analyzing waveforms, transient phenomena and time - varying quantities across a wide frequency range (from very low to radio frequencies), it mainly operates on voltage. Other physical quantities

What is Automatic Voltage Regulator?
What is Automatic Voltage Regulator?
An automatic voltage regulator is employed to regulate voltage, converting fluctuating voltages into a constant one. Voltage fluctuations mainly stem from variations in the load on the supply system. Such voltage variations can damage the equipment within the power system. These fluctuations can be mitigated by installing voltage - control equipment at various locations, such as near transformers, generators, and feeders. Multiple voltage regulators are often placed throughout the power system t
