Product descriptions from the supplier

Description

Description:

UniSec Air is a medium voltage switchgear designed for secondary distribution up to 24kV, 630A, 20kA. It contains GSec Air, three-position load break switch or disconnector and earthing switch. This new component has a shunt vacuum interrupter for breaking capacity, dry air as the insulation medium, and a global warming potential (GWP) of zero. The switchgear also contains a vacuum circuit breaker and is fully compliant with IEC standards and the U F-gas regulation (EU) 2024 / 573.
The switchgear is based on a highly flexible and modular  concept with standardized solutions that can be  readily configured to meet the specific needs of each application. UniSec Air is fully tested according to IEC standard 62271-200.
UniSec Air is internal arc classified, IAC A FLR up to 20 kA, assuring safe operations for technicians when standing in  front of the switchgear. Robust control and protection, metering, monitoring, and diagnostics suitable for various applications are also available.
UniSec Air is designed with a refined interface and with  the same footprint, operations, and backward compatibility as the original UniSec switchgear, facilitating integration into existing systems and extensions of the installed base.

FAQ
Q: What standards and certifications that ABB’s medium voltage switchgear products comply with?
A: Our medium voltage switchgear products comply with international standards such as IEC 62271, GOST, GB/DL. They are also certified by leading industry bodies to ensure the highest levels of safety and performance. ABB also offers medium voltage switchgear products for ANSI standards.
Q: What’s the difference in the circuit breaker for air-insulated vs gas-insulated?
A: Air-insulated switchgear circuit breaker is typically removable or withdrawable. The circuit breaker is based on vacuum circuit technology. In the gas-insulated, it is fixed mounted. The function of withdraw is provided by a separate disconnecting switch. Typically, a three-position switch with connected, disconnected, and ready-to-earth position.

Why Do Substations Use Stones, Gravel, Pebbles, and Crushed Rock?In substations, equipment such as power and distribution transformers, transmission lines, voltage transformers, current transformers, and disconnect switches all require grounding. Beyond grounding, we will now explore in depth why gravel and crushed stone are commonly used in substations. Though they appear ordinary, these stones play a critical safety and functional role.In substation grounding design—especially when multiple gr

Why Does the Transformer Core Need to Be Grounded?During operation, the transformer core, along with the metal structures, parts, and components that fix the core and windings, are all situated in a strong electric field. Under the influence of this electric field, they acquire a relatively high potential with respect to ground. If the core is not grounded, a potential difference will exist between the core and the grounded clamping structures and tank, which may lead to intermittent discharge.I
