Motor power

Description

This tool calculates the active power (kW) of an electric motor, which is the actual energy consumed and converted into mechanical work.

Input motor parameters to automatically calculate:

  • Active power (kW)
  • Supports single-, two-, and three-phase systems
  • Real-time bidirectional calculation
  • Power validation

Key Formulas

Active Power Calculation:
Single-phase: P = V × I × PF
Two-phase: P = √2 × V × I × PF
Three-phase: P = √3 × V × I × PF

Where:
P: Active power (kW)
V: Voltage (V)
I: Current (A)
PF: Power factor (cos φ)

Example Calculations

Example 1:
Three-phase motor, V=400V, I=10A, PF=0.85 →
P = √3 × 400 × 10 × 0.85 ≈ 6.06 kW

Example 2:
Single-phase motor, V=230V, I=5A, PF=0.8 →
P = 230 × 5 × 0.8 = 920 W = 0.92 kW

Important Notes

  • Input data must be accurate
  • Power cannot be negative
  • Use high-precision instruments
  • Power varies with load
