The Nature of Electricity?

Definition of electricity

The flow of electrons through a conductor due to an electric potential difference.

The fundamental properties of electricity

When a negatively charged object is connected to a positively charged object through a conductor, excess electrons flow from the negative body to the positive body to balance the electron shortage.

Atomic structure

An atom consists of a nucleus with protons and neutrons, surrounded by electrons.

Free electron

Loose bonds combine electrons that can move from one atom to another called free electrons.

Conductor

Materials with many free electrons, such as copper and aluminum, are good conductors of electricity

Insulator

Materials with few free electrons, such as glass and mica, are poor conductors of electricity
