China

The methods for measuring the voltage drop between two points mainly include using a multimeter and a stable current power supply.

Equipment Preparation

You need to prepare a digital multimeter and a stable current power supply.

  • Ensure that the device is turned off and correctly connected to the output end of the current source.

Measurement Steps

Connect the positive probe of the multimeter to the positive terminal of the wire being tested, and the negative probe to the negative terminal.

Ensure that the test probe makes good contact with the test point, and the component under test is in operation.

Open the constant current power supply, adjust it to the required current value, and then turn on the voltage output.

Record the reading on the multimeter, which is the measured voltage drop value.

Notes

  • During the measurement process, minimize the relative motion of the measured sample to avoid affecting the measurement value.

To maintain the repeatability of measurements, care should be taken to avoid interference from external factors such as drafts and high-frequency radiation.

Calculation and Determination

  • Based on the measurement results, the voltage drop at the wire crimping point can be calculated, usually by comparing the voltage drop values at different measuring points.

  • The criteria for judgment can refer to relevant industry standards or specifications, such as USCAR21.

By following the above steps, you can accurately measure the voltage drop between two points, providing a basis for circuit analysis and fault diagnosis.

Application of Auto-Reclosing Residual Current Protective Devices in Lightning Protection for Communication Power Supplies
1. Power Interruption Problems Caused by RCD False Tripping During Lightning StrikesA typical communication power supply circuit is shown in Figure 1. A residual current device (RCD) is installed at the power supply input terminal. The RCD primarily provides protection against electrical equipment leakage currents to ensure personal safety, while surge protective devices (SPDs) are installed on power supply branches to protect against lightning intrusions. When lightning strikes occur, the senso

Reclosing Charge Time: Why Does Reclosing Require Charging? What Effects Does Charging Time Have?
1. Function and Significance of Reclosing ChargingReclosing is a protective measure in power systems. After faults such as short circuits or circuit overloads occur, the system isolates the faulty circuit and then restores normal operation through reclosing. The function of reclosing is to ensure continuous operation of the power system, improving its reliability and safety. Before performing reclosing, the circuit breaker must be charged. For high-voltage circuit breakers, the charging time is g
