Description

Summary:

ROCKWILL® Electric is committed to providing customers with cutting-edge technology, competitive pricing, and superior after-sales services to advance automated distribution. As the power industry evolves, the miniaturization of electrical equipment represents a key future trend and an urgent need for current power consumers. Miniaturized electrical equipment not only saves land and civil engineering costs but also reduces the use of greenhouse gases like sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), thereby meeting ecological and environmental protection requirements. Leveraging years of extensive experience in high-voltage electrical design and incorporating globally advanced technical design philosophies, our company has developed the latest Three-Position Pole-Mounted Load Break Switch (RPS-T). This product is tailored for power utilities and enterprises pursuing high power supply reliability, advancing distribution automation upgrades, and operating in harsh environments. It serves not just as a simple line switch but as a critical component in building smart, resilient distribution grids.

Overall Description of the RPS-T Pole-Mounted Load Break Switch

  • Product Positioning and Core Advantages

The RPS-T is an SF₆ gas-insulated outdoor pole-mounted load break switch series launched by ROCKWILL, specifically designed for modern distribution automation. Its core advantages lie in high reliability, maintenance-free operation, and excellent environmental adaptability. Utilizing a sealed stainless steel tank and SF₆ gas insulation, it operates stably under harsh conditions such as salt spray, industrial pollution, ice, and snow, requiring no maintenance throughout its service life.

  • Product Series and Key Features

The series covers multiple voltage classes and functional requirements:

RPS-T12/24 630-20E: Equipped with a unique three-position structure, integrating two independent switches and one branch point, ideal for line branching and network reconfiguration.

All models support manual operation (insulated operating rod) or motor-driven operation (remote automation control), meeting diverse operational needs.

  • Design Highlights and Technical Features

Safety and Reliability:

  1. Grounded tank design eliminates leakage currents; large position indicators ensure clear visibility.
  2. Mechanical interlocks, gas density monitoring (density switch/pressure gauge), and other functions prevent misoperation.

Environmental Adaptability:

  1. Rated IP54protection, with a dustproof and waterproof mechanism enclosure.
  2. Constructed from stainless steel and anti-corrosion aluminum alloy for superior corrosion resistance.

Smart Expansion Capabilities:

  1. Compatible with add-on current transformers (CTs) and capacitive voltage dividers (CVDs) for load monitoring and voltage sensing.
  2. Comprehensive lightning arrester interfaces ensure robust overvoltage protection
  • Typical Application Scenarios
  1. Distribution Automation Segmentation:Used for fault isolation in overhead lines and power restoration in non-fault zones.
  2. Line Branching and Ring Networks:The RPS-T series optimizes branch connections, saving space and costs.
  3. Harsh Environments:Suitable for coastal areas, extreme cold regions, industrial zones, and other locations where conventional equipment struggles to operate reliably.
  4. Space-Constrained Installations: Supports direct pole mounting, adapting to narrow or limited spaces.
  • The switch tank
  1. SF6 gas insulated switchgear is a three-phase linkage operation switch device designed for the distribution system cables and overhead power line segment applications.
  2. The switch body using welding to seal the casing and the casing using rubber ring seal, and all the other parts are assembled in the welding of stainless steel tank shell.
  3. The switch body designed to be able to withstand pressure without affecting the switch to normal operating performance.
  4. The shell casing is made of a thickness exceeding 3 mm cold-rolled stainless steel (SUS 304l) or better materials to withstand the internal gas pressure.
  5. SF6 gas is a kind of nontoxic, nonflammable and electrical insulating gas. It has the excellent characteristic of arc extinction.
  • Conclusion

With its modular design, multi-layered safety protection, and intelligent expansion capabilities, the RPS-T series serves as a key component in building smart distribution networks. Its compact structure, flexible installation options, and maintenance-free characteristics make it particularly suitable for power utilities pursuing enhanced reliability, automation upgrades, and resilience in challenging environments.
