What is eddy current loss in no-load loss?

Eddy - current Loss:

  • Definition: Eddy - current loss is the energy loss caused by eddy currents in the iron core. Eddy currents are the induced currents generated inside the iron core in an alternating magnetic field.

  • Reason: The alternating magnetic field induces an electromotive force in the iron core, which then generates eddy currents. When eddy currents flow through the iron core, they encounter resistance and thus consume energy.

  • Influencing Factors: Eddy - current loss is related to the thickness of the iron core, the resistivity of the material, and the frequency. Reducing the thickness of the iron core, using materials with high resistivity, and decreasing the frequency can all reduce eddy - current loss.

  • How to Test Insulation Resistance of Distribution Transformers
In practical work, insulation resistance of distribution transformers is generally measured twice: the insulation resistance between thehigh-voltage (HV) windingand thelow-voltage (LV) winding plus the transformer tank, and the insulation resistance between theLV windingand theHV winding plus the transformer tank.If both measurements yield acceptable values, it indicates that the insulation among the HV winding, LV winding, and transformer tank is qualified. If either measurement fails, pairwise
