Overview
The main switchboard of a ship, also known as the general switchboard or main distribution panel, is a combined device of switching equipment and control equipment used for the ship's power generated by the ship's main power source and for distributing power to all electrical loads for the ship's normal navigation and daily use.
It consists of a generator control panel, a paralleling panel, a load panel, and a combiner box.
Its main functions are as follows:
Power reception and distribution: Receive power from the main generator set and shore power supply, and distribute electrical energy to all electrical equipment on board, providing power support for ship navigation and daily life.
Generator control and monitoring: Control the main generator and display relevant parameters of its operation, such as voltage, current, frequency, power, etc., to ensure the normal operation of the generator set. - Power supply for important loads: Directly supply power to important loads to ensure the power supply of key ship equipment, such as the ship's propulsion system, navigation equipment, etc.
Circuit monitoring and protection: Monitor and protect the circuit. When a circuit failure or overload occurs, it can be detected in a timely manner and corresponding protective measures can be taken, such as cutting off the faulty circuit, starting the standby power supply, etc., to ensure the safe operation of the circuit.
